Both Lizzie and Katie completed the London Marathon last Sunday. We are so proud of their efforts on behalf of Roy Castle. As you've read they were big friends of Lucy and I know she would have been so proud of their achievements . In total so far including Gift Aid they have raised a fantastic £6,342.70 between them smashing what they aimed for £4,000. What a brilliant effort, and thanks again on behalf of TeamLucy

Lizzie and Katie Greenaway are running in the London Marathon in two weeks. So their friend Becky organised the above ball in the National Waterfront Museum, Swansea to raise money in support of Lizzie and Katie. The ball was a great success which everyone there really enjoyed. The ball itself has made £3,000 for the girls. Myself, Richard and Ruth attended with our partners to represent Roy Castle, it was a fantastic night with a massive promotion for Roy Castle. At the end of the evening a couple apprioached me to say they would no longer give regular monthly payments to another charity but would instead donate to Roy Castle, ss so pleased. Well done Becky brilliantly organised.

This April 22nd my sister and I are running the London Marathon in memory of Lucy Jane Bowen- Becky (her best friend) has put into words below why we are hoping to raise funds for this amazing charity! Lucy Jane Bowen was bright, vivacious, hilariously funny and beautiful. Everyone loved her. When I met her in school, I knew straightaway we would be good friends. We were very different but got on really well and had the same sense of humour – Lucy was one of the funniest people you could ever hope to meet. All my memories are of us laughing. She was larger than life, a massive drama queen (she went on to become an actress!), extremely thoughtful and just so much fun. Lucy was very fit and active – always walking and mountain biking around her beloved Gower and swimming in the sea (even in the depths of winter). That’s why her memorial bench at Pwll Du says ‘I’ll race you to Ring Rock’ - that was her favourite place to swim. I never did race her to Ring Rock, I wasn’t brave enough. But Lucy was fearless when it came to that kind of thing, something I always admired in her. It came as a horrible shock when Lucy was diagnosed with lung cancer at the age of 32. We were devastated to be told that her cancer had spread and there was little doctors could do. She lived for just three months after her diagnosis and her death affected many people. She was so loved by her family and friends and she is missed deeply. Lung cancer is the UK's biggest cancer killer. About 35,000 people die from lung cancer in the UK every year, and yet it is one of the most underfunded cancers in terms of research. As the only UK charity wholly dedicated to beating lung cancer, the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation helps by providing research, support and prevention so that those affected can expect a better future. It is an amazing charity with the most lovely, supportive staff. I am incredibly proud to say that two of my best friends, Katie Greenaway and Lizzie Greenaway, are running this year’s London Marathon in aid of the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation. Lucy’s family and friends have raised over £50,000 for the charity in the six years since Lucy died and we want to get that amazing amount of money even higher! Please give what you can to support Lizzie and Katie in raising much needed funds for this wonderful charity. Thank you, Becky xx
