Story

A week this Sunday I will set off to ride the Tour of Cambridgeshire, just shy of 79.3 miles of Cambridgeshire hill climbs. It will be the third year I have done it, celebrating the life of our very own Lucy-Jane. This will be the first time I have attempted the Tour on my own, this presents a few challenges but also some freedoms. I am weirdly looking forward to it. I'm trained and ready to go! Please sponsor me, if you can even if you forget, don’t want to or can’t I hope you are a bit more

Final Results

Richard as you have read completed the Tour Of Cambridge and has raised £637.50 for Team Lucy. Again he has gone above his target and this will be added to the family fund which is nearing £60,000 raised since Lucy's death. Mind we haven't finished yet!!!!

The Start - 3/6/18

4th June 2018
I’m here despite getting quite far before realising I’d forgotten my bike shoes, I beat the first cut off, getting parked before 1000 and paying only £10 to park instead of £20 #winning. You’d think the £70 entry fee must have covered that? No welcome to the land of £3.50 coffees, £3.50 ice creams and £6 beers. I’ve brought my own coffee, beer is at home, I will have to leave the ice cream #commitment

The Finish !!!!

4th June 2018
That’s me finished 4 hours 30 something, great nutrition, fast legs, good bladder control and only one stop is the recipe. Below is a picture of me at the finish with the size of beer I am going to drink now. Thanks for all your support, it got me through a hot, fast, tough event. I was glad I eventually burnt off a 70 year old woman who had plagued me all ride, she told me the secret to her success was to target fat middle-aged riders and ride behind them, but that old minx hadn’t counted on a late blast of power on the last hill. In yer face love. https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team-lucy

Money Raised

Richard has raised over £250.00 so far with a week still to go. Come support him with a donation no matter how small it all helps

Training in Progress

31st May 2018
One of a few G&Ts soothing the pain of 16 miles around Rutland Water with Helen and the kids . It is possible with enough snacks, some constructive encouragement, the odd push uphill and some deception to get a 5 year old girl to cycle for 16 miles, I was proudest of her brother Nye who cried and cycled at the same time. Life skills learnt, winners never quit, quitters never win, winners cry whilst cycling and winning, multipacks of strawberry Cornettos are also the perfect recovery food and gin and Adnams Ghost Ship and Mean Time Brewery’s pale and Yakima Red. Rest week is going well. https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team-lucy
